Who I am

Rob Jackson Religion & Philosophy provides online GCSE and A-level Religious Studies tuition, exam coaching and related educational services. For data-protection purposes, Rob Jackson is the data controller.

Information I may collect

For parents/carers: name, email address, telephone number, enquiry and booking information, and payment/transaction information.

For students: first name, school year, exam board/course information, current and target grades, areas of difficulty, submitted written work, attendance and feedback notes.

I aim to collect only information reasonably needed to provide the service. For free diagnostic work, parents are asked to remove student surnames and school-identifying information where those details are not needed.

Why I use information

I use personal information to respond to enquiries; assess suitability; provide diagnostics, tuition and feedback; communicate with parents/carers; organise lessons; process payments; keep appropriate business and tax records; respond to safeguarding concerns; and administer and improve the service.

Lawful bases

Depending on the purpose, I rely on contract, legitimate interests, legal obligation or consent. I do not ask for special-category information unless it is genuinely necessary for the service.

Children’s information

The parent/carer is normally the main administrative and contractual contact. Children’s information is used only where reasonably necessary for tuition, feedback, assessment or safeguarding.

Who information may be shared with

Trusted service providers may process information where needed to run the service, including Google services, the website/form provider, and Stripe or another payment provider once activated. Information may also be shared where necessary to comply with the law or respond to a safeguarding concern. I do not sell personal information.

How long information is kept

• unsuccessful enquiries and free diagnostic submissions: normally up to 6 months
• ordinary teaching notes, student work and feedback: normally up to 12 months after the last tuition session, unless there is a good reason to retain them longer
• financial and transaction records: for the period required for tax/accounting purposes
• safeguarding records: for as long as reasonably necessary and appropriate

Security

I use password-protected accounts, limit access to tutoring information and avoid collecting unnecessary student-identifying information.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent where consent is the lawful basis.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are concerned about how your information has been handled.

Marketing

I will not add parents or students to unrelated marketing simply because they make an enquiry or purchase tuition. Where optional marketing is used, there will be an appropriate lawful basis and a way to opt out.

Changes

This notice may be updated as the service develops or the platforms used change. The current version will be available through the website.
